Outside in the cold.

As much as we would like to stay inside, having a nice cup of coffee and reading (I know, who has time for that?!), kids NEED to be outside! Our kids’ school has a “morning visitation” time, where they run around outside with their friends for 15-20 minutes before their school day begins. This time is so important for many reasons. It gets their blood flowing and fully wakes them up before going inside for individual or group lessons. It also gives them time to chat with their friends. What grown up doesn’t like to chat with a co-worker or friend before starting their day? By allowing children time to catch up with their friends, they will be ready to get down to business in the classroom.

At home on the weekends, we try to get our kids outdoors each day. Don’t get me wrong, we have our mornings where we sleep in and send the kids downstairs to get their breakfast and watch a show. Then we my husband and I finally find our way downstairs, we throw on our coats, boots, and head out to the backyard. It’s often hard to drag myself out there, but once there it is truly so much fun.
